Malmstrom Air Force Base

Malmstrom Air Force Base Museum & Air Park

Malmstrom Air Force Base was established in 1942 during World War II.  Nearly 8,000 aircraft flew between Great Falls and Fairbanks, Alaska to deliver air equipment and supplies to the Soviet Union between 1942 and 1945.  The base has been a strategic national defense location ever since and is responsible for an important complement of Minuteman III Intercontinental operations worldwide.  Just inside its main gate is the Malmstrom Air Force Base Museum and Air Park.  The mission of the museum is to accurately depict, display, and interpret the historical significance of Malmstrom and its related organizations for the education of both military and civilian visitors.  The outdoor air park displays a variety of aircraft and ground transportation of years past, as well as a missile and missile transport vehicle.  Informative signage provides statistics and history about each unit displayed.
